Real estate briefs for Southwest Florida

Centex will hold a grand opening from 1 to 4 p.m. today at its new Vanderbilt model in Fisher's Landing at Riverwood, the master-planned community overlooking the Myakka River west of S.R. 776 in Port Charlotte.

The three-bedroom, two-bath model home offers 1,911 square feet of living space with a den and a two-car garage priced from the $230,000s. It joins several other models in the community that now range from $155,990 to $360,990, according to Centex.

The national home builder plans to build 70 houses at Fisher's Landing. Riverwood has more than 1,300 home sites.

The gated community opened in 1992 and is 95 percent complete. It has an 18-hole golf course designed by Gene Bates, a private beach club with bar and grill, heated swimming pool, spa, Tiki bar, tennis courts, and fitness center, among other amenities.

Sam Rodgers Homes has begun construction in the next phase of GreyHawk Landing, a gated master-planned community of 492 lots in east Manatee County.

The development team includes developer Sam Rodgers, vice president Rex Rodgers, vice president, contractor and broker Richard Rodgers, director of sales and marketing Mark Davis and senior construction manager Clint Madden.

Sam Rodgers is offering four models in GreyHawk Landing, each with three or four bedrooms, three-car garages and open floor plans, many with a flexible den or bonus room.

Sizes range from 2,000 to 3,100 square feet, with prices starting from the mid $200,000s.

The company has built more than 5,000 homes in its 43-year history, including 18 years as a custom franchisee for Arthur Rutenberg Homes.

Homes by Towne and Ryland Homes also are building in GreyHawk Landing. Homes by Towne has eight new floor plans of three-, four- and five-bedroom houses, from 2,300 to 3,444 square feet.

Ryland Homes has eight floor plans, seven with four bedrooms and one with three bedrooms.

They range in size from 1,853 to 2,840 square feet. The Inverness model has 2,840 square feet of living space with four bedrooms, three and a half baths, a family room, game room and three-car garage, and can also feature an optional guest suite. In 45 years, Ryland Homes has built 295,000 homes.

Architect Terry G. Green and Ampersand Construction have been awarded the Gold Award for "Whole house remodel under $300,000" by Professional Remodeler magazine, a national building trade publication.

This 3-bedroom, 3-bath midcentury house is in the Sapphire Shores neighborhood, on Brywill Circle. It has a new detached garage and guest suite. The site fronts Brywill Circle as well as 47th Street. The new garage is on 47th Street and connects with the guest suite and then to the main house with a covered walkway. The principal entrance remains on Brywill Circle and is accented by a large banyan tree.
