New sites at Venetian Golf

Six new Grand Villa homesites overlooking nature preserves and lakes are now available in Palermo at Venetian Golf & River Club, WCI Communities’ 1,039-acre master-planned community along the Myakka River in Venice.

Buyers can choose from six Grand Villa designs offering two and three bedrooms, flex rooms, formal dining rooms, dens, two-car garages and 1,756 to 2,389 square feet of interior living space. The plans start from the $250,000s and include the recently introduced Islamorada and Key Largo, the largest design of Grand Villas.

The large kitchens have freestanding island breakfast bars and closet pantries. Grand Villas are designed around great rooms that flow into adjoining spaces, including kitchens, breakfast nooks and dining rooms. Sliding-glass doors connect interior spaces to covered lanais for outdoor living. Online:

The Sarasota Architectural Foundation’s Lecture Series features Robert Cassway, AIA, an award-winning architect and fine-art photographer, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune Community Room, 1741 Main St., Sarasota. Admission is $10 for SAF members and $15 for nonmembers.

Cassway will discuss the late architect Louis Kahn. Cassway was a student of Kahn at the University of Pennsylvania.

Following the lecture, Cassway will be joined in a panel discussion by architects Carl Abbott and Peter Lizon.

In the early 1960s at Yale, Abbott organized several workshops for his 15 master’s classmates with Kahn at the University of Pennsylvania. Lizon studied on a university fellowship under Kahn at Penn.

A complimentary wine reception will follow the presentation.
