In brief: Venetian golf course is going private

/

WCI Communities’ Venetian Golf & River Club: Venetian, currently a semi-private course with public play allowed, will become a private course with members-only play beginning Jan. 1.

“Offering private play better aligns with our caliber of course,” said Venetian Golf & Country Club General Manager Joseph Iafe. “Our dynamic golf experience rivals the best in the Sarasota-Manatee area.”

Venetian Golf & River Club also will offer two new membership categories: Social Dining and Summer Golf.

Venetian’s course features fairways that are framed by natural-looking berms, strategically located bunkers and an abundance of grass hallow hazards configured in a manner to make forced carries optional. The course presents eight sets of tee marker options ranging from 4,400 to almost 7,000 yards, accentuated by TifEagle greens.

Nutter Custom Construction, a Sarasota-based residential custom-building company, recently began construction on a one-of-a-kind home in Sarasota’s Harbor Acres.

The previous home on the 15,000-square-foot lot was torn down and well be replaced by a contemporary-coastal design. The new 4,800-square-foot, three-story home will have four bedrooms and four bathrooms, a four-car garage with 2,000 square feet and a detached guest house.

DSDG Architects designed the house.
