A beachfront estate at 7902 Sanderling Road, Siesta Key, sold today at $5.5 million -- Sarasota County’s most-expensive home sale so far this year.
The buyer is an entrepreneur from out of state, said Joel Schemmel of Premier Sotheby's International Realty. The home was on the market for 202 days and was listed by Marcia Salkin and Stacy Hanan of Michael Saunders & Co.
Schemmel had listed the property in 2013 and part of 2014, at which time he met the buyer.
Located in Siesta Key’s Sanderling Club, the property is nearly two acres with more than 150 feet of Gulf frontage.
The house was built in 1987 and has more than 15,280 total square feet (8,395 square feet under air) in an open floor plan with four en-suite bedrooms, two half-baths, a separate breakfast room, formal dining and living rooms, split bedrooms and volume ceilings.
Highlights include a two-story, 35-foot living room, double-sided fireplace between the living and formal dining rooms, a study with carved mahogany fireplace, a secluded wine room, open terraces, walls of windows and glass doors and a waterfront family room off the kitchen.
The master wing includes a waterfront bedroom with its own fireplace and balcony, dual baths and an adjoining exercise room/nursery/study. The property’s grounds extend from the beachfront, resort-style pool and spa to Heron Lagoon.
