The sale of a 7,800-square-foot mansion at 1459 Bay Point Drive in Sarasota closed this morning at $6.825 million, which is the second-highest price paid for a house in Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties this year.
The property was listed in November 2013 by Kim and Michael Ogilvie of Michael Saunders & Co. at $8.25 million.
The sale price is 83 percent of original list -- a strong showing in a market where mansions typically sell for 30 to 40 percent reductions from original list price.
The sellers were Stan and Merry Williams. The buyers were represented by Bruce Myer of Coldwell Banker and did not take title in their own names.
In March, the Githler mansion on South Shore Drive in the museum district sold for $9 million.
